Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-05-24

This policy explains how Mately handles account, content, messaging, device, and safety information.

Information we collect

  • Account details such as username, name, email, phone number, profile photo, and birthdate.
  • Content you choose to upload, including posts, reels, comments, and profile information.
  • Messaging metadata needed to deliver chat features, reports, and safety controls.
  • Device, session, and app information needed for login security, notifications, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
  • Reports, appeals, and support messages you submit to us.

How we use information

  • To run the app, authenticate users, deliver content, and keep accounts secure.
  • To moderate reports, investigate abuse, enforce policies, and respond to appeals.
  • To send service notifications, app update notices, and important safety messages.
  • To improve reliability, performance, and abuse protection.

Private and encrypted content

Private communication should stay private. Admin tools must not be designed to decrypt end-to-end encrypted messages or expose private encryption keys. Reports may include user-submitted evidence and metadata so safety issues can be reviewed without breaking encryption.

Reports and safety actions

When users report content or accounts, Mately may review the report, hide or remove public content, restrict accounts, request more information, or allow an appeal where appropriate.

Your choices

You can update your profile, notification preferences, privacy settings, and account information inside the app where those controls are available.
